Replacement Blade Assembly for 3M or MicroAire handpiece
Frequently Asked Questions
ECTR - history
Dr. John Agee invented the single-portal ECTR device and procedure to help a patient who required the use of Canadian crutches to ambulate, making OCTR an undesirable treatment option. Following 122 patients and 147 procedures, data showed that patients who underwent the endoscopic procedure returned to work an average of 25 days after surgery, whereas those who underwent the conventional surgery took 46 days to return. Endoscopic surgery patients also returned faster to ADLs, such as dressing and food preparation, at 9 days compared to 13 for conventional surgery patients. Open procedures require larger incisions and cutting through more tissue, with a longer recovery time.
Today, Hand Biomechanics Lab is bringing value to the market. The new drop-in replacement disposable blade assembly, for use with the 3M Agee Inside Job or MicroAire SmartRelease systems, is about half the price of the current standard system as noted in public, published pricing charged to the VA.
What comes with the Disposable Blade Assembly?
The Hand Biomechanics Lab Disposable Blade Assembly is sold in a 6 pack. All other necessary equipment is part of your original 3M/Agee Inside Job or current MicroAire system.
Can I purchase a new handpiece from Hand Biomechanics Lab?
While Dr. Agee and our engineers are the original developers of the pistol grip handpiece, we do not currently provide the handpiece. Please use your existing handpiece with our replacement blade assembly.
We’re excited to announce that we sought and received FDA class II 510(k) clearance under K222490. Please see the attached letter from the FDA for additional information.
Why is Hand Biomechanics Lab able to charge so much less?
As the OEM of this single-portal technique, Hand Biomechanics Lab has the knowledge and tools to create a device of equal or greater quality than what is offered by the current provider. With the rising cost of healthcare and the emphasis on value, we felt it was time to promote patient care at a fair price compared with the current standard offering.
